The urban villa project on the shores of Lake Lucerne is situated in an idyllic, park-like environment. Despite this, the wonderful view of the lake and Alps should not be the only premise of the design. Instead, the formulation creates a wealth of different references to the views and the urban surroundings. The specific modulation of individual rooms with respect to alignment, proportion and the level of opening creates varied views in all directions. Large-scale panorama windows, verandas or covered terraces, as well as picture-like perforated windows enhance the daily residential experience. The sequence of spaces moves around a multi-storey atrium that acts as an «inner panorama» and the hub of the building. In its punctiform formulation, the building picks up on the tradition of classical urban villas, whose history is continued in a contemporary form in this design. The nuances of the compact, sculptural form of the villa are based on the balanced tectonic structures of the wall discs, ceilings and balustrades, as well as the careful arrangement of openings.
As a part of “Adda Collective” we are selected to participate in the „Korail Residency 2024“, which is embedded in the “Korail City of Culture” initiative in Dhaka/Bangladsh.
The project „Korail City of Culture“, which focuses on Dhaka's largest informal settlement, is a sustainable urban development initiative supported by the Creative Economy Programme of the Federal Foreign Office in Germany, in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Bangladesh and its local counterpart, Paraa, and international partner, Floating e.V.. The project aims to support cultural practitioners and producers living, working, and playing in Korail in establishing sustainable cultural practices, and to feed this knowledge back into processes of global and local learning and teaching on sustainable urban development.
The projects and works that are developed during the Korail residency program shall be part of the „Maja-Kori“ Design Festival in and around Korail Basti in December 2024.
