The topography of the terrain, which slopes downwards towards Lake Hallwill, the desirable view and also the close proximity of the developed neighbourhood led to a compact building that is modulated in parallel to the slope’s contours. Its powerful formulation creates an identity-forming location within the quarter. The exterior appearance reflects its inner organisation, which zones the programme into different spatial layers. Special significance is given to the cross-sectional solutions, which are developed on the basis of a split-level typology and make an exciting spatial sequence tangible from the entrance hall on the slope side to the lakeside projections. The main levels are closely intertwined with each other, while the three storeys are gently interlaced. The section picks up on the theme of the slope and reveals a distinctive lighting guidance inside the building, which has an exterior of washed in-situ cast concrete.
We are delighted to announce that our proposal for the new water sports base at la Jonction in Geneva has won the open competition among 73 national and international entries!
The design, in the breathtaking setting where the Arve and Rhone rivers converge in the city, is based on a concept of circular reuse. In the spirit of urban mining and to largely reduce gray energy, our project called "OBJETS TROUVÉS" proposes the conversion of an existing office building and the reuse of long-span steel trusses from a nearby dismantled hall.
